As someone who has never watched any of the Alien movies, I really wish the trailers didn’t spoil a major plot point that happened in the movie. Other than that, I loved it! The mystery aspect literally left me on the edge of my seat. And the jumpscares—oh my god, the jump scares! They got me going especially towards the end of the movie. The soundtrack was great and the visuals were out of this world (pun intended)! The acting from the cast made me feel as if I was in their place with the emotions they were experiencing, and that is not easy to do. Adding to that, the choice to place a plot twist where viewers assume the movie ends is a clever way to diverge expectations. The second the attacks began I couldn’t guess where the movie was going nor who would make it out alive; my main guess was dead wrong. This is also a film where I wouldn’t mind a sequel (in fact I REALLY want one) though the ending doesn’t require it, which leaves many possibilities open to interpretation! However I do wish we had more time with the characters to connect with them more. I also feel like the movie could have expanded more on the planet they were on because I personally didn’t take away much. Other than that, this is a film I would happily show others to scare the hell out of and maybe intrigue them.
Alien: Romulus left me wanting more, so I am definitely going to watch the other movies apart of this franchise! I need to understand what the hell I just watched!
