May contain a spoiler from the book and movie! and also just n FYI if you didn't like the book there would be no reason to like the film
I had read the book 2 years ago and enjoyed it! so I was very much aware of what this movie is about and I was not disappointed but I also know that book to movie adaptations will never be perfect, but this one was very very good! of course changes were made and some things left out but to me they made perfect sense and I LOVED the transition from her past to the present they made it so seamless and nostalgic and beautiful
Justin who played Ryle was the star in my opinion he was phenomenal, he made me feel uneasy and uncomfortable when it was necessary but also portrayed a very accurate likeness to an abuser sweet, charming, loving but you could see that mask slip and I loved to see the accuracy portrayed by him
SPOILER
the two changes that made the most sense to me was the restaurant name and the magnet, the name of the restaurant and the meaning behind it is the reason that Ryle finds out about the meaning of the tattoo that he loves so much as opposed to the magnet on the fridge and the letters he finds
loved it thought it was 10/10 again Justin did just such a good job with this film from the script to the direction to the acting
