You'll know what to expect, be surprised and what comes out from under the rug, and enjoy the immersive experience the film sets out from the very beginning. Over-repeated genre traits and conventions... sure! But hey, it's a whodunnit! Give the film a go!

Yes, the story is occasionally overwhelmed. Yes, certain plot beats feel forced, convenient and rushed. But, this is not a bad film, regardless of what people are saying. This film is well-made, beautifully shot, technically innovative and stylistically bold. The general reviews that have bombarded 'The Last Thing He Wanted' are false and dry, irrespective of how this film was produced, alongside the sheer amount of work and effort it took in creating it. Anne Hathaway provides the screen with one of her most fantastic, compelling, and bold of performances. If you don't want to see the film solely on the reviews it has received, at least see it as a demonstration of sheer acting drive and authenticity. She is an incredible actress/actor that always excites, develops and provides across her work. 'The Last Thing He Wanted' seems to force a vast range of sub-plots into the tight duration of its length, but for the first 2/3 of the film, it doesn't seem too problematic. Once in the final act, this is when plot beats seem forced and convenient to the story - characters suddenly appearing, re-introducing minor characters, forced relationships. But, this film still provides the audience with something new and engaging, especially upon a topic-matter that will at least entertain. Don't disregard the film. It is still deserving of your viewing, especially upon the sheer innovation and impressive style of the cinematography, production design and thrilling performance from the wonderful lead actress/actor, Anne Hathaway.

De Niro masterfully depicts the varying and troublesome events that the Bronx offers, contrasting the lifestyles of violent gangsters to the loving and hardworking ones of its honest fathers. What is so fascinating about this film is De Niro's conscious effort in developing the genre that he so wonderfully contributed to, across his collaborative work. Having portrayed a range of mobsters across the years, from Don Vito Corleone in The Godfather: Part 2, and only three years earlier in Goodfellas, as Jimmy Conway, he stands to present the honesty of such an Italian-American stereotype within the Bronx in a more personal manner to his and Chazz Palmienteri's childhood and upbringing, whereby fathers worked selflessly to endlessly provide for their families; a true dutiful meta-narrative. The story is powerful! The characters intricate! The production design and cinematography; realistic and beautifully detailed! It is a wonderful film, and being De Niro's directorial debut, it stands as a true great of cinema much like Scorsese's feature film debut of Mean Streets in 1973. Even in the 21st century, these characters and narratives are still relatable, and with the growing surge of youth independence, immaturity, and irresponsibility, this film presents the honesties of life, the effect of respect and true loving responsibility, alongside the moral values that lead to true development into adulthood. This film is an undeniable great, and above all, truly personal! It will make you feel proud in understanding what it means to be an honest person; a life lesson and journey to forever grasp and cherish, from the incredible Robert De Niro; Il Maestro!

A truly wonderful artistic work of experimental cinema, delving into the various aspects of life in an intricate manner that enhances what would otherwise be considered a normality across the 1920s Soviet Russia. Incorporating cuts that would form a montage film, altogether, every shot holds significance, either due to its social-political context or due to its importance upon human behaviour and activity across this era. Vertov creates a bricolage between documentary and art-house cinema in a minimalistic, realistic and highly expressionistic manner. It upholds to the extravagance of everyday life. Truly one of Cinema's most influential, important, and critical pieces of film. The cinematography is incredibly beautiful and undoubtedly innovative, experimenting with static and dynamic camerawork to create a hyper-active world of machinery and technological advancements in this moment of history. It is truly impressive and a real joy in experiencing another's interpretation of the world. Forever, we can grasp the challenges of everyday life and understand how it is a manner of true artistic beauty, depicted through the eyes of a camera, and now the eyes of the world. A true great, and early gem, of cinema!

Charlie Chaplin encapsulates the shy, daring, and hardworking characteristics that the world has fallen in love with, over the decades in which he blessed the silver screen. The 'Little Tramp' is a lovable character. He is energetic, eccentric, and above all, emotional. Like the 'Little Tramp', humans are naturally sympathetic, and once 'Blind Girl' enters the frame delicately holding her handful of handpicked roses, you will immediately fall in love with her true inner beauty. The 'Little Tramp''s motives are above heroic, and Chaplin demonstrates how powerful love truly is, and the commitment of saving and cherishing one's life; it can't be seen, but it will always be felt. This is what makes humanity. And with a story so genuine, you will forever grasp what truly makes life important, alongside understand what true love means to many. A masterpiece of cinema, and a landmark for Physical Slapstick comedy, Charlie Chaplin proves his sheer vibrancy in a world that he presents as poor, yet fruitful.
