This author's self-published debut is a compelling, well crafted who-done-it. While it isn't quite as polished as one backed by one of the big houses, the story is solid with a likable protagonist haunted by a mysterious past. M. J. Macie knows how to tell a gripping story and skillfully weaves together the lives of several believable characters (with considerable depth) leaving the reader guessing right up till the end.
