Stunning.
Not that big of a Nolan fan, so didn't come into this with high expectations. I was truly blown away. The score, the editing, the visuals, the personality – truly a tour de force. It accomplishes what many biographical films fail to do, which is to make the viewer feel what the subject feels at each point, all while intertwining it with a secondary layer of political intrigue and downfall. The high points of this film may be some of Nolan's greatest directorial work. My main gripe would be with the run time, a length I think could have been utilised slightly better by focusing less on the court drama and more on some of the esoteric thinking the later Oppenheimer engaged in. There are also a couple of rather poorly written characters to be found and problems with the mix at times. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this film, a marvelous accomplishment that everyone involved should be proud of, most of all Mr. Nolan and the main cast, all of whom's performances are impeccable. Must watch for those with an interest in history, music, film or philosophy.
