What was most disappointing is after building up the hostage situation, scrambling for money, etc, the whole story is wrapped up in about 4 pages. No real end, no sense of justice or relief, just boom. It was as if Grisham said he was tired of writing it and it just ends. Very abrupt and very lazy.
One example, after beating the Italian Mob in The Firm, costing them untold millions of dollars, arrests and public shame, where do the McDeeres end up in The Exchange? Three years drinking wine and enjoying themselves in Cortona Italy. LOL, right, that’s a believable choice. It was lazy storytelling from the first chapter.
