Pradeep Ranganathan delivers a commendable performance in Dude, but the film falters in its attempt to present a progressive narrative. Instead of addressing this with nuance, the film attempts to justify the actions through the lens of honour killing, which feels both forced and unconvincing. This approach not only undermines the seriousness of the issue but also alienates the audience, making it difficult to connect with the characters or their motivations. While the film's intentions might have been to challenge societal norms, the execution falls short, leaving viewers questioning the message it aims to convey. In trying to be progressive, Dude inadvertently becomes a cautionary tale about the importance of thoughtful storytelling.
