This was the first book that regarded the Great Revolt of 1857(which the British named merely as 'Sepoy Mutiny’) as India’s first War of Independence . This book , written by Veer Savarkar , inspired generations of Indian patriots since its first publication in 1909. Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had great respects for this book . Bhagat Singh reprinted this book and in Netaji’s INA , the book was a compulsory reading for the jawans to learn about the background history of India’s Freedom Struggle .
