Full disclosure: I went to university with the author. We weren't friends, in fact I don't think we ever really connected until maybe our 25th year reunion. And part of the reason for that was that, as a nerdy, aimless, socially awkward, middle-class suburbanite, I was somewhat intimidated by the beautiful, well dressed, sophisticated city kids like her.
When we did connect on social media I discovered how funny she is. But also - and even more so through this book - that even some of the kids who I though were beautiful, well dressed, and sophisticated did not, in fact, always consider themselves as such.
Good to remember about judging, wearing other people's shoes, and feeling the blisters therein.
Great book, full of humor and honesty. Highly recommend.
