I liked the original series immensely and used to watch it with my son and daughter. I think only the Fire Officer was black /dark skinned and I got no questions about this from the kids. They thought Pontypandy was a real place...
Fireman Criddlington was a hoot as was Norman's pranks which they loved.
John Alderton's narration of the series was superb. I think it lost something when it went CGI though.
