This movie is a sparkling gem, often overlooked. No CGI, special effects, no excessive violence or gore, often hilarious, beautifully written and acted. The ending has caused a lot of discussion amongst fans of this film. I won't ruin it for you but if you watch it on You Tube (where it's currently free) look for the copy that runs about 1:31:13. There are other copies but they lack the hilarious supermarket scene (you'll know what I mean when you see it). I believe a small scene is still cut from this video but it's still well worth seeing.
I have my own theory about the ending and get a tissue ready. This is well written, intellectual without being snobbish, full of gentle humor and is a wondrous tale of the human heart. Bravo to Mr. Scott, Ms. Woodward, lovely Jack Gilford, a young Rue McClanahan, and many other noteworthy actors and Bravo to the director, writer and producer!
