PLOT: This film perfectly captures the longing and pain of impossible love. Cyrano's love is so pure and unselfish that he helps his true love marry another. The tragic loyalty with which he stands by his comrade and the impoverished young woman is offset only by the realization that he is, at last, loved. ACTING: One word: superb. The hero has masterful control and expression of his emotions. The young widow has an impressive musical range and tone. Christian's naivete is more than adequately expressed. I liked this version as much as that of GirardDepardieux, of whom I am a big fan.i
