This movie has more nuance than some give it credit for. Someone actually wondering why Holly left her own children? (Spoiler) she was married off at 14 to an old man with 4 kids in the dust bowl. Biggest mystery to me is why Fred accepted a snack from that old perv. As others say, the racist portrayal of a Chinese man is the worst, it’s a product of the culture of the day.

Being unrealistic is not this film’s biggest fault. It fails to create the connection the audience needs with the character. Why are they wearing dresses? Why do so many characters act like they were born in the 1990s? Freaking terrible.
