This book was a debut novel and it’s clear after finishing it, the author needs to hone his craft. This book is hard to read. It does not flow smoothly, nor does it cause the reader to develop a “can’t put it down” feeling. I put this book down time after time until I finally finished it - thank God! From time to time, it appeared there were plot gaps, some things were not explained, others were just omitted. I do hope Mr. McCloskey continues writing…hopefully he will write better with time.
