Ok. This does no good to the OG that everyone loves. What made heathers iconic is the fact of how different it was. It’s not that the show is trying to revive that different perspective, but it’s the fact that we sadly LIVE in that “different” perspective, so the whole revolution of the art is lost. This show tried to take a diverse look at the movie, but they just made it worse. I mean, the plus-size girl and her two LGBTQ friends as the bad guys? And then the pretty white kids plot to kill them? Yep! That SCREAMS controversy. Heathers is a classic, and unless you’ve got hella skills, nothing will ever replicate the story. It’s like trying to remake “The Breakfast Club” or “The Usual Suspects”. Classics are to be left untouched, or the world freaks out. The only other Heathers-related thing we’ve seen is the musical, which did surprisingly well. This TV show romanticizes the fact that the two, pretty, white kids get whatever they want while the minorities and the people who don’t follow the status quo are left behind. Very disappointed and not satisfied.
