The music was and remains a Leonard Bernstein masterpiece. Ansel stole the show (a pleasant surprise) both with superior acting and exceptional voice which transitioned well from the original Tony of decades ago. While I appreciate Rita Moreno’s desire to sing “Somewhere” (beautifully), that song belongs to Tony and Maria. It is the story of them trying to find a place or time where they might fit in. By removing their song it discounted a more moving and literal statement of their struggle to be together and the final scene. Watch the older version to see the difference. This is a movie / story every generation should see and appreciate. Thank you for the remake Spielberg!
