Andor, was good, the mandalorion, was good, SWCW, Was good, all the movies until the force awakens was good,
This, This is low-quality fan fiction
The Acolyte is a prime example of how not to handle a beloved franchise. This show is low-quality fan fiction masquerading as part of the Star Wars universe, and frankly, it’s just horrible
The acting, plot, lore blah blah blah
It’s clear that the writers either didn’t do their homework or just didn’t care about the established Star Wars lore. From the very first episode, The Acolyte takes massive liberties with key elements of the Force, the Jedi, and even the Sith. It feels like a different universe entirely—one that’s been hastily slapped together with little regard for continuity. Jedi are portrayed as acting completely out of character, and the so-called "mystical" aspects of the Force are not only vague but utterly nonsensical. If you’re a fan of the Star Wars mythos, you’ll be cringing at how much it disregards decades of world-building.
And forget the lore, The Acolyte as its own independent series, it's still a complete disaster. This show fails on nearly every level, from its incoherent plot to its cringeworthy acting and painfully slow pacing. Honestly, it’s hard to imagine anyone getting invested in this, no matter what universe it’s set in.
The acting is easily one of the weakest points. It’s not just that the performances are stiff; they’re downright awkward at times. ome of the actors seem completely out of place, while others deliver their lines with such over-the-top seriousness that it becomes unintentionally funny, like am I watching a comedy or a Star Wars show? mate wth? The chemistry between the cast is nonexistent, making it difficult to buy into any of the relationships or conflicts. The show tries to go for a dark, intense tone, but the wooden acting and poor dialogue completely undermine whatever atmosphere they’re trying to create.
If The Acolyte were an original show, it still wouldn’t stand out in a crowded TV landscape. It feels derivative and uninspired, borrowing from other shows without adding anything unique of its own. The world-building is shallow, the themes are muddled, and nothing feels fresh. It’s as if the show was made to fit into a specific genre or trend, but it never takes the time to establish its own identity. You’ve seen this kind of formulaic writing and uninspired storytelling in countless other shows—and they did it better.
And to be honest, I feel like this is just your average Disney Star Wars show now
Disney makes me gag.
