I love the original Spenser for Hire. And, although the main characters are pretty much there, it was soooo far away from the original series. I enjoyed when Wahlberg portrayed the softer side of the character, but I thought the scene in the bathroom with on again off again girlfriend was too much. I understand bringing a character forward into the twenty first century, but this was not it. Spenser was a complex, thought provoking, philosophical character with passion and Wahlberg touched on about 20 % of that person. The rest was just graphic and rough. And Hawk was no where near the man of mystery of the original series which I loved about him. If another movie is made of this series, learn from the series and bring back some of the things that made that show stand out. Wahlberg has the talent to do so. The Italian Job for one.
