I was trying to find something interesting to watch and found this show. I liked the show so much I watched all the episodes in 1 day. The show really put a better perspective for me on how reliant our world really is on technology and how easy we have it compared to our ancestors. I've thought a lot on living like this and how many people now would be able to survive. If we all woke up one morning and had no more electricity or running water or any of our modern comforts that we take for granted, how many of us would survive? I realize they had those almanacs to help and guide them but what if you didn't? Could you survive? I couldn't. I wouldn't know how. I can hunt and butcher an animal but I have no idea how to grow crops or preserve them for winter. I wish I did. Those almanacs, I wish I had one. If the creators of this show offered them for purchase I'd buy one. It seemed like everything you needed to know was in those guide books all the families had. Step by step instructions on how to do everything. 1880s discipline would have been quite different. Kids got out of line or didn't want to work or talked back to their parents it would have been to the wood shed with a hickory switch. A good old fashioned pants down spanking. You better stop that crying or I'll give you something to cry about. There wasn't none of this talk it out and hug a bunch back then. The fathers would have been like, the beatings will continue until morale improves. As far as the same sex couple goes. I don't agree with it but it didn't keep me from enjoying the show. However, I don't have kids. If I did they would not have watched this show. Same sex couples in the 1880s would not have adopted, or been raising children. Anyways, I really enjoyed this show and I hope they continue with making more seasons. I would definitely watch them.
