Overall a well written and well acted film examining the life of Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist who directed the American effort to develop the atomic bomb. A good portion of the film focuses on Openheimer's love life, including his complicated marriage to wife kitty. Additional tension is drawn from accusations of communist leanings, ultimately threatening Oppenheimer's career and legacy. The film adopts a semi-autobiographical perspective throughout, at times taking in Oppenheimer's conflicted thoughts about his undeniable hand in creating a potential doomsday machine. The film ran unnecessarily long at 3 hours. The same quality of content could have been accomplished in two hours running time.
