I'm not a frequent fantasy reader, but I must say this book is way different than other fantasy books. If you've read Folk of the Air or the ACOTAR series, this might seem totally opposite of what you'd expect. It's an excellent read, every character has depth and are describes slowly rather than just dumping all the info at once like ACOTAR did (sorry, not sorry).
Also, this book doesn't revolve around romance, which is something people look for in fantasy books but rather than revolves around past trauma and overcoming them. It's a pretty good and chill read.
The only thing I didn't like were the scenes of fighting or combat because i couldn't understand the setting of the place, it was way too complex to imagine. Also, the characters are way too young. It isn't physically possible to do those things at like sixteen and seventeen, way too unrealistic. Had to imagine them way older.
