I saw this film with my father many years ago. I was so moved by the power of gritty B&W cinematography and Lancaster's performance. One of my top ten for sure!

Very good film. I understand some of the criticism, however if you are from New York City you will understand the social and location uniqueness to the film. Not perfect but a very interesting film to watch.
