I would have rated it higher if not for season 4. While the first three seasons due well into clueing people into the mind of phycopath season four does away with all of it just to try and subvert ones expectations. Spoilers ahead. The first season does well to introduce us into the mind of Joe, his psychopathic way of viewing the world is sure to get lovers of drama and true crime hooked, and with the death of beck in the first season it starts Joes inevitable character arch. Season to continues this by making Joe realize how horrible he is but with the finally he's locked into this murderous life after finding out Love is the same as him. Season 3 continues this arch and shows him come to grips with the possibility of being a murderer for the rest of his life. Season 4 though sets up an amazing continuation to this story, when he starts getting framed for murder. Him having to face his old ways and prove to himself that he's not a phycopath. The slow start while being tedious to watch at least sets up to continue Joes character in a meaningful way. He's had to face his toxic idea of being a protector and trying to make him solve the murders instead of doing them is in my opinion a great twist on the shows usual story. This is all destroyed when it's revealed that Joe has gone full on crazy and has gone against his character in a million ways. He's shown to care about kids and view himself as a protector of them in every season but in season for he makes a mother abandon her child. He's shown to try and protect and care for the ones he loves until it's a choice between his survival and then. In season 4 he kidnaps her because he's just crazy and the whole murder plotline was just actually him the whole time. It sets up what could of been a great story only to throw it all away in one episode. Honestly some call it a guilty pleasure and I wouldn't disagree but it's a shame to see something that could have been good destroyed that quickly. I can't say I'll watch season 5 or that I even finished season 4 but god the first three seasons are all pretty damn good only for the fourth to be somewhat enjoyable but still bad.
