“You put your serious family drama in my wacky Howie Mandel vehicle!” “You put your wacky Howie Mandel vehicle in my serious family drama!” The tonal shifts in this movie will give you whiplash. Too goofy for adults and too dark for kids, I’m not sure who the target audience for this movie was supposed to be. It feels like someone mashed together 3 different scripts into one movie: a family drama about the dissolution of a marriage, a silly kids fantasy, and a mildly scary horror movie. Any one of them would have worked better as a standalone film than this muddled mess.
