I am a die hard 90's Aladdin fan and so going into this I was super skeptical, but I will say that I enjoyed this far more than any of the other Disney musical remakes! From what I've observed alot of the comments about this film being terrible stem from it not being the original movie it was based on. There's no way to address this critique and it seems unfair.
The only complaint I have is the 'One Jump Ahead' song looks off, it looks like it speeds up and slows down at points and it sort of takes away from what's going on. Loved that Jafar spent less of this movie being a creep for Jasmine, and that Jasmine took on a more proactive role instead of being just a secondary character. I felt like her 'Speechless' reprise seemed a bit unnecessary.
I think the cast had wonderful chemistry with each other and the supporting characters? Fantastic! Sure, it's not the same Aladdin I remember from when I was a child, but where's the fun in that? Things have changed alot since then.
It's a whole new world!
5/5 would watch again ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
