While I felt that the story structure and plot development were well done, I didnt enjoy the style of writing at all and at times the narrative voice was all wrong. Would a woman in England in the 1920s really "punch the air" ? Sometimes it felt like reading my children's stories from when they were at primary school, the writing style felt pedestrian and lacking.
