Everyone seems to rave on about Blethyn's performance and yes she's good but I recon some of the so called supporting characters in each episode are better especially the females. I am quite impressed by some of the younger female performances. Make up, dress, Geordie accents and just general demena are top rate.I guess a lot of that must be down to the director.
