I lived my first 30 years in Dewsbury leaving in 1980,I had a happy childhood and early adult life there. I fully endorse everything the author has to say about the town.As a young Police Officer my beat was Savile Town,one street Head field Road was a respectable middle class area,as was Savile Town,now only one person cent of whites live there.Everything the author writes about the town,I fully and completely endorse.Like him l was one of the many white flight who escaped to live in rural North Yorkshire.An excellent but very sad read.
