I've just finished the game, and I can say personally I loved the game. It might be one of if not my favorite Pokemon game to date. In terms of storytelling! Extremely heartfelt, large themes that will resonate with many. As the first real open world Pokemon game, I think it is taking a step in the right direction. It's what many have been asking for, a true open world experience in the Pokemon world. You can do what you want, adventure the way you want. There are three storylines that all converge at the end. The characters you meet have so much personality, I fell in love with each one of them. I will say, the 1 star reviews are very much so exaggerated. That is not to say there are no problems with the game or that there are no improvements that could be made. Sadly it does have some glitches. But they are not game breaking enough to warrant anything lower than a four star for me. Frame rate drops is also a problem with the game, BUT it was also not as large a deal as others are making. Should this be a problem for a game company such as nintendo and gamefreak? Probably not. Should these things be fixed in the next patch, I think I may even rate it a 5/5. Another issue I've seen brought up is the lack of animations. But again, it is not the worst or most notable thing for me. Similarly to the previous gens, they had the same problem. I will go back to my statement before, should this be a problem for a game company such as nintendo and gamefreak? Probably not. There should be more diversity in the animations still. That said, it is not an exclusive "problem" to Scarlet and Violet. Finally, my biggest qualm with the game is that there are still no voices for the cutscenes!! Just a personal thing, I would have loved to hear their voices! Probably one of the minorities with this hahaha, but thought I'd voice it. Again, this is from my playthrough. I personally did not experience much of what others say is a problem for the game. It is a possibility my version just did not have those issues. For reference I bought the digital copy. If you are on the fence about buying this game because of the low reviews, I will say you should buy it and play with an open mind. The game is GOOD. The story is phenomenal. If you are just getting the game for the gameplay, the frame rate drops and weird camera angles will be the biggest issue. But get passed that, it is well worth the $60.
