Re "Film 1917"
I must state I have only seen clips etc of the above.
In my Opinion one of the Greatest
"World War One" Films made was
"Paths of Glory" Starring Kirk Douglas and Directed by Stanley Kubrick his fourth film released Christmas 1957.
At the time the film was banned in France.
Kubrick's genius Camerawork in filming the trench scenes as Douglas walks past his troops and the attack on the "Ant Hill." is a first and technically brilliant as is the Script.
Personally to me from what I have seen of 1917 no but there again I have not seen the film through.
Just a footnote Kirk Douglas was so impressed with Stanley Kubrick and when Anthony Mann Director who walked off the "Spartacus" set!!!.
Douglas recommended Kubrick direct the film Spartacus which of course he did.
