Within 20 pages I felt like the author had never been to Boston and was inventing easily searchable details about MIT and computer programming. Any basic research, or even just more judicious vagueness, could have avoided dozens of immersion breaking errors. Why even set a book in a real place and time if you don't care about getting it right? After 10 more pages I also hated every character that had been introduced. I like a good unlikeable character, but there was not really much complexity to these characters beyond being thoughtless and mean. So the world building is inaccurate and unrealistic, and the characters are vulgar and cruel. I guess it could be worth reading if you enjoy a messy drama and aren't concerned about the details, but I didn't find this to be a thoughtful or pleasant read. DNF
