Really enjoyed this. Your never gonna be able to replicate the original classic so with Halloween movies it's best to sit back and just enjoy some action.
This one knows there isn't really a lot of places they can go with story (the series has already attempted to make it a family affair, add an abusive background, throw some sort of mad cult/alien symbol randomness at it among other things) and they did a great job of the continuation of story in 2018.
So this one was about Michael just violently killing people and driving the narrative that he basically can't be killed (we know). A little bit of humour thrown in, some nostalgia and throw backs thrown in and left open for the final chapter (till the next one) to complete the new trilogy.
If you go into this looking for some sort of classic horror story then you should just rewatch the original. If you go in looking for a fun slasher then you'll have a great time.
