A great EP. To call it a album is wrong this is not a project not soemthing Cole put serious time and depth into this is a mixtape and for me the way he’s carried himself in each track on the EP seems like fortification a warning and a strategic display of what he’s preparing for building a strong base and weapons for the something great such as The Fall Off or a truly brutal back and forth with Kendrick. This being said those calling this EP better than MMTBS or those calling this EP trash and terrible both are complete bias invalid opinions of people with truly no basis for real kind of hip hop and musical viewpoints of any kind. Not saying all must have this opinion as I do but we can call out blatant invalid bias no bases viewpoints which in my opinion I think some great examples like Anthony Fantano show. The diss is very much so a warning shot but don’t let that take away from how the EP is truly positioned and how Cole really in a very interesting way pushes you in effortless ways to be like wait a minute is Kendrick really this great? Is TPAB really this great? Even outside of Kendrick you think Have I been sleeping on Cole? How much depth and story and meaning and controversy in music is too much? As someone who Kendrick truly is my #1 GOAT. I find myself slowly believing more and more in Cole he’s moving somewhere he’s building up himself while also seemingly begging quietly for a all out between Kendrick I do find myself questioning whether or not Cole can win all out between Kendrick despite this all as for the EP itself it’s really good very solid and the haters gonna hate the glazers gonna glaze regardless to me this EP made me lose the conformities hip hop critics have pushed my opinions into I’m willing to say openly confidently 2014 is not Cole’s best album and yeah the off season really is good. Yes Cole might seriously be a better rapper than Kendrick maybe not artistically but rapping wise? Yeah. Cole is well positioned if he plays it right to knock out Kendrick for 1st even if Kendrick is my goat right now I’m open minded. Cole’s ascension continues in this album if we’re talking big 3 in 2020 Cole was sitting in 3rd for me 2022 post off season thoughts Cole is in 2nd for me 2024? Still in second but closer than ever and slowly breaking down my Kendrick opinions.
