I’ll be honest - I struggled through the first four chapters only to discover a hidden gem! Doerr, as always drew me in with his superb characterisation and beautiful use of language. A story of four parts magically woven together by an Ancient Greek fictional text. This book is not for the faint hearted, it’s a hefty read with a complex story line but I truly love it. Doer is a master when it comes to creating life like characters with whom the reader can empathise with, I cannot recommend this enough. I have bought it recently for every friend and family member with a birthday to celebrate - it has cost me a fortune!!
