If the goal here was to make a series as entertaining as the book (which I assume it was, otherwise, why bother?), they have failed miserably. The characters in the book were extremely odd, bright, funny, complicated, and lovable, while Zott’s and Evans’ personalities on the screen are just flat. I tried to convince myself during the second episode to push on through, but it’s just too boring. Very disappointing.
