So unexpectedly boring. I found myself looking at the wall to pass the time and waiting for the singing scenes to use the restroom. I should’ve checked to reviews before going.
The cinematography of the film was gorgeous. The movies plot was the problem. I liked some of the scenes but this movie could have been so much shorter. I expected absolute brilliance because of the first movie but I was so let down.
I wish they advertised this as a musical so that I would have been prepared for the amount of singing that was pressed in this movie. There was no need for most of the singing in this movie. I liked it when it was showing his view of the world but other than that it was unnecessary.
The joker and Harley Quinn are two of DC’s most beloved villains. Their portrayal in this movie is so unrealistic. I understand that this movie was different from their original characters but the whole point of them is their obsessive love for each other as well as crime. But that wasn’t shown once in the film. The characters had no chemistry. The original Harley Quinn would never have left her joker. It’s the whole point of her character to be there for him and it makes no sense to send her away.
The whole point of the joker is his evil side. He barely showed up and when he did was the only time my eyes were fully on the screen. He was the only enjoyable parts of the movie.
The beginning was intriguing and brought Harley in well. They had me hooked until their (spoiler) dancing and singing while outside of Arkham.
How it could have been changed: (spoilers)
Make Harley the one who blew up the court house. Make her help Arthur escape. Because of the explosion, Joker came back out. They leave together and take a car while both smiling. The end.
