Great film to begin learning all about Italian horror films and what was involved in the changing times for Italy and their film production. The cast was properly chosen in the film by Mario Bava and the new effects for its time really set the film apart because Bava's budget was limited. Overall I recommend seeing this film and noticing not only the combination of different genres that Bava uses because of the inspiration for the short story Viy, but also the loose plot that launches Bava's and Barbara Steele's careers.
