People leave strange little memories of themselves when they die"
I'm sure the book has already left a strange little memory of it in my heart which I would never be able to brush off
The protagonist, Watanabe, will keep you drawn to his personality right from the beginning till the end of the book. Or even after that. The character development isn't extraordinary. It's simple but it keeps you interested in them. I guess this is where you can argue that simple is more. Simple is actually how you can define the writing of whole book or maybe it's the translated version. But whatever it is, it'll keep you sticked right till the end.
The novel is filled with the sense of nostalgia in almost every movement. Even if you haven't lives a life like the protagonist, you'll end up feeling nostalgic. Maybe that's what differentiates great writers like Murakami from others. To top it all, the gentle brush of melancholy at it's own pace is something i personally couldn't get tired of. Some mught argue the novel lacked clarity but I'd rather perceive that as the openness of the book. The ending, i can bet, will keep you yearning for more and more....
