I am a HUGE fan of horror. Though a bit of a slow burn, the storytelling is, in my opinion, quite compelling. The acting is superb! Toni Collette is riveting and raw as are the entire cast. That said, there is no shortage of disturbing images that imprinted in my mind in a way no other film has done.
This is not a film for children. The brief nudity and drug use was the least of my concerns. Many teens are exposed to far more than what the film shows (some weed and drinking... no sex.) Teens are not oblivious to seeing this, but the themes are what would give me pause in allowing the under 17 crowd in: disturbing violence, satanic content, mature family dynamics and deep-rooted angst. This film was an amazing experience, while simultaneously giving this horror junkie plenty of bad dreams!
