Oppenheimer is a brilliant study of a man and his legacy. While Nolan has been slammed by some critics for not taking a stand on the topic of war, they forget that this is a movie about one man, a scientist who was used and abused by his contemporaries for their own needs. Yes, Oppenheimer himself was a visionary and a victim and Christopher Nolan illustrates that point perfectly. Oppenheimer is not a movie about politics of war or ideology. It is a film about one man and his lost soul. And for that it is perfection.
