If you read the book, then I would not suggest watching the miniseries because there is so much missing and changes. The series alone was very good, but the book was better. I was really disappointed in how they ended the series, not even close to the book. However, I did like seeing the house & town come to life from what I had imagined it looked like from reading the book.
