This movie is definitely worth a watch but I found it depressing... She is portrayed as being emotionally so fragile as if she didn’t have any other choice but to continue working in an industry she obviously felt so uncomfortable in and had to rely on drugs and alcohol to get her through which killed her ... who was she without it and how else could she financially survive... ?
Living in a time without free expression .. where natural expression was suppressed when everything and everyone had to meet the socially acceptable norms in a controlled way no wonder she felt lost and powerless without any creative freedom ... a victim of the times ...
Renee Zellweger did an excellent portrayal especially with Judy’s mannerisms very airy as the Gemini Judy was but Again i felt the depressing portrayal was over kill because surely there were good times Which weren’t portrayed but then again maybe it’s all about the domineering factor in her life .....
PS ... after I watched an interview of Garland on on YouTube “Judy Garland on Cavett 1968 “
I feel the movie was accurate, talk about being incoherent at 46 years old and physically looked 20 years older a year before she died ... she was of her face
... my heart goes out to her , how very sad
