I could only make it through one and a half episodes of this. I'm not a survivalist, probably been camping 3 times in my 47 years. But I'm not an idiot. I suppose it helps I grew up on a farm, but still. Points for the underwater stuff, don't think I could hold my breath and exert myself like that without drowning, but just about everything else made me want to throw my tablet at the wall. Two nights and she's not even tried to make a shelter with all that wood and pine about? She could make a fish hook in 5 mins out of those earrings and the fountain pen (she'll probably think of it in a couple of episodes but I can't be bothered to torture myself). She could make a net out of all that plastic if she tore it into strips. Starting a fire with great big wadges of money is far harder than a few screwed up bills. No kindling. She tosses a lighter without even letting it dry out.
The flashbacks that took up much of the episodes were boring. I ended up tapping the plus 10 seconds thing to get through them quicker. We learn she is a workaholic with a dick of a boyfriend, her childhood was weird, she's lost people, she'd drink herself into a stupor and nearly killed herself in a house fire. She looks like she has everything but it is a front to cover her insecurities and loneliness. It felt like we were back there every few minutes.
If you are after a gritty survival story, this isn't it. Fewer flashbacks, a bit more common sense and it might be just OK.
