The Guilty is a crime thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal, who, essentially is acting alone in the movies entirety. The film sets a dark tone with a disgraced cop, (Jake G), working dispatch and right away the viewer is engulfed with a sea of 911 calls. The tension, stress, and anxiety is palpable, however a call from a distressed woman concerns Jake and he is adamant on helping her situation. The acting was terrific, and I applaud everyone putting the viewer in edge with just their voice. I found the “twist” at the end pretty obvious, though, and after that the movie wrapped up in haste. TL;DR gripping thriller with ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (voice) acting. Even better, it’s only about an hour and a half of run time.
