This movie is okay, but not great. It definitely is a far cry from an original Studio Ghibli film as far as plot, character, and story goes. This film really just boils down to fan service for people who played Ni No Kuni 1 and 2 and know the world. The movie throws in things that the video game has with no explanation or logic to it. Magic is mentioned but never explained fully and its usage is so weird that I'd go as far to say it's used as an ex machina. The story honestly makes no sense at all... I was so confused that I just got bored. Not to mention the ending tries to explain the whole movie and just succeeds at confusing the audience more. The animation is nice and fluid, but the cgi can look horrible in certain scenes. All in all, it really does a disservice to the Ni No Kuni games and is not worth watching.
