I suspect that the amount of enjoyment that this film gives a viewer depends on where they are in life. It's not an action/thriller. It's much better than that.

Lavish costumes, make-up, sets and props were spectacular. But the script is an historically fictional, low-complexity, slow-paced farce. More what one might expect for a teenie-movie. That's based upon our 40 minutes of viewing. Can't remember the last time I walked out of a cinema part-way through a showing. My viewing companion thought that this was 20 minutes more than neccessary. Not educational, not amusing, not intriguing. I can see that some reviewers thought it was wonderful. We just don't get it.
