Animals are the acting pieces of this play. The dominant pigs Snowball and Napoleon stand for the two important figures of the Russian Revolutionary - Leon Trostky and Joseph Stalin
The novel has animals that speak human language and interact with humans, something we normally do not see in literature which make it even more interesting.
The story revolves around how the the animals take control of their farm after chasing away their owner, the rise to position of power by the intellectual pigs, the class division and exploitation of the other animals but the greedy pigs and the degradation of their seven commandments.
