One of the best history books...
1857 sepoy mutiny.. Religious war.. Extreme crisis.. Riots.. Betrayal.. British revenge, endless loot, killing, hanging, destroying Delhi's mughal architecture systematically.. Show trial of Zafar followed by Exile in Rangoon.. His descendants still live in Rangoon..
Dalrymple gave a balanced view from many letters, diary, mughal court papers...the list goes on.. Extraordinary achievement.
