Finding a true page-turner of a book that also takes you on a real emotional ride is hard to come by. There are good books and fun books, but then there are great books like this one that stay with you long after you read the last line. As someone who is first-generation, I found myself nodding my head, laughing, and crying as I read Shahira’s story. I also found and continue to find (because her words stay with you) the beauty of learning about Afghanistan, the struggles and triumphs of many first-generation women, and the rewarding challenge of embracing authenticity. Her words and stories are priceless.
