This game checked a lot of my boxes (sci-fi, survival, horror, Russian history, kind-of-depressing-but-full-of-adventure vibes, sort of post-apocalypse mood) as far as things I like to see in games and media, and while I'm only about 5 hours in, its delivered fairly well on all fronts so far. I feel the comparison to Stalker is warranted but I also feel that this game does plenty of stuff to the formula to make it feel more homage than rip-off. I hated Fallout 4's base building in that series, but have been pleasantly surprised with how well it meshes into the gameplay loop in this game (it feels way less like a chore and it actually benefits me in more ways than just printing caps by making water factories) and I feel like this game would be missing a lot of charm without it. It's maybe a bit niche, but I found it for $30 somewhere and think more people should experience this game. I honestly can't pinpoint what about the game needs improvement, but feel like nothing is perfect, this game included, so with that caveat and since I can't do partial stars, 5 stars. Played on PS5, can't speak for computer or Xbox.
